Fremont County Photo Of The Month (Parkdale, Colorado) (May 2006)
The very first Fremont County photo of the month is a shot of the Parkdale, Colorado area.
Parkdale is at the lower base of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, a very popular entering and exiting point for river rafters on the Arkansas River. It also sits at the intersection of Highway 50 and the Arkansas River, where the highway heads up the hill and away from running along the river, while the river flows
into the Royal Gorge.
I snapped this photo off the side of the highway, approximately
0.5 miles east of the Arkansas River. I like the look of the rugged pinions
dotting the land, with mountains in the background.
